Why does the laptop not turn on when the monitor is connected through an adapter?

Hello! I ran into a problem: I connected the monitor via an HDMI-VGA adapter, configured everything in the video card settings, everything worked well, but after a reboot it does not turn on. Only the inscription of the name of the laptop is shown, which usually appears for only 2 seconds, and that's it. In the BIOS settings, there is only one Boot device item: EFI PXE. What could be wrong? You have to pull out the cord every time before turning it on, and connect it after turning it on.

First, try to take another adapter.

And where does the adapter, if it doesn’t see the bios disk, it may of course not have enough power, but I doubt it very much, it’s more like a problem with the BIOS battery that needs to be changed so that the parameters are saved, as a leading question, how long have you been using this laptop last time?
