Why does replicated data improve the quality of the model?

There was a sample with 36 records and 21 predictors. A regression decision tree was trained, which, as expected, showed a poor result due to insufficient data. Further, the sample was duplicated 200 times, after which the quality of the model improved. Why did simply multiplying the data give an increase in quality?
