Why does Linux Mint 16 freeze?

Guys, help!
Just started to join Linux, and already problems.
In general, I installed Linux Mint 16 with LiveDVD, I launch it, and when I open programs, everything freezes. The cursor starts to lag, then it stops moving at all, nothing opens (neither the console, nor the menu). The same trouble was when starting from LiveDVD, for example, when I started Firefox (there are no problems with built-in utilities like gparted), but I did not attach any importance to this, I thought it was a LiveDVD problem.
Actually, what to do?
Linux Mint x64
Intel Core i3
4gb RAM
Geforce GT320

1- cinnamon is a very buggy thing (although it doesn’t look like that at first glance), believe me.
2- video drivers.

In my (also unfamiliar with GNU/Linux) view, Linux Mint is the stage in the pursuit of simplicity for housewives when it is better to install Windows. I chose Ubuntu (16.04 XLS) as my first Unix-like home system and I don't regret it. This is certainly not a solution to the problem, but maybe worth a try?

I got up dead on my laptop with Intel guts on 16.04, and searched for a problem for a long time until I found this: ... “If it hangs tightly on distra higher than 14.04.3, then 99% that this is due to Intel graphics. I had regular freezes after 20 - 40 - 90 min. It was decided so sudo gedit /etc/default/grub bring the line GRUB_MDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT to the following form (if nothing was added) GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intel_idle.max_cstate=1" Save, close. sudo update-grub And reboot. The problem should disappear if Intel HD is to blame. "... IT HELPED ME. I specifically drove for a week without reloading the video in the chrome browser.
