Why does LibreOffice ask for a password to edit .doc files that Word opens without problems?

The whole point is already in the subject matter. There are a number of documents created in Microsoft Word and saved as .doc, which, when opened in LibreOffice, ask for a password to edit them. Users swear that they don’t set a password and don’t know how to do it + if it really was, then Word would ask for it.
Who faced this? Googling did not help, it seems that specific. Is it possible to remove such a password prompt in bulk without resaving each document individually?

There is no such problem with .docx, I solved it by converting.
