Why does it say... when installing mac os x capitan?

Why does it say The configuration file "D:\OS X El Capitan\OS X El Capitan.vmx" when installing mac os x capitan was created by a VMware product that is incompatible with this version of VMware Workstation and cannot be used.

Cannot open the configuration file D:\OS X El Capitan\OS X El Capitan.vmx. ?

@AltQ

The virtual machine configuration file cannot be opened due to incompatibility with the current version of VMware Workstation.
Try to create a new virtual machine using a file with the "vmdk" extension, or open this configuration file with a text editor and, depending on the version of "VMware Workstation" used, change the value of the "virtualHW.version" parameter according to the table given here .
