Why does barcode printing not work in 1C?

Win10x64 does not print barcodes with the error "Error connecting external component printing barcodes".

If you are using an x64 client, then try running a 32-bit one and check printing again.
I came across a similar problem in the PSU configuration: some printables containing barcodes and QR codes required exactly the x86 client (which was clearly stated in the accompanying message of the registration log).
