Why does an Acer laptop detect all wifi networks but not connect to all?

Acer Aspire One 725, catches all available networks, but does not connect to all. At home, for example, my router distributes two networks called 2G and 5G, connects only to 5G, but not to 2G, why? Because of the frequency range or what? It does not connect to most networks, but it sees it, but for example, I connect a WIFI access point from a phone. How to solve the problem?

@a1ukard

it costs most likely Windows 10
I also had such a problem, most likely a problem with the module drivers or something like that.
I rearranged the firewood, then everything caught and connected normally, there may also be problems with routers, the list is very long.
Try to change the firewood in the 1st turn.
ps on linux from the same Acer, I normally connected to all networks.

If I understood everything correctly, I had to re-read it 5 times - formulate more precisely, then you have a 2G network at a frequency of 2.4 GHz according to the b standard. Some modern devices no longer support this standard - change to 802.11n! in the router settings for the frequency of 2.4 GHz.
The phone and access points can broadcast according to the 802.11 b / g / n standard, i.e. Broadcast Wi-Fi to which the laptop can connect.
Also, other access points may have a password and some devices cannot connect to the broadcast standard, as they do not support it, only to n or 5 GHz.
