It is interesting, for example, to future employees. It is important for many that the company has a long history.

For self-promotion, of course, but to write there important events in the history of the company, if any.
2010, foundation of the company,
2012, received an award
in 2013, received an investment
in 2014, moved to a new office
, etc.
It is interesting for new employees, investors and partners.

You need to understand who to write it for.
If for future employees, then you need to focus on what will help them integrate into a new team, without boring and gray tones. "In 2014, the 50th employee came to us and we threw a rock party to the songs of Ramons" or "In 2015, we received investment from Microsoft for our Slovo product. We celebrated this event with a trip along the Volga. Dima was especially distinguished who took a raccoon with him" and next to a group photo with your team and a raccoon. On the first day, a new employee will have something to talk about with colleagues during a break.
If you are writing for partners, contractors, investors or clients, then describe the main achievements: what you did, how you did it, and what results you got.
Thus, your partners will see that you achieve good results year after year, which means that it is possible and necessary to cooperate with you.

The history of the company's development, in my opinion, is purely SEO text, which includes keywords for better site indexing. Of course, it should be readable and visualized. In my online store, checking the metrics and adwords, I can specifically say that very few people visit the About Us section. After all, the main quantity draws attention to the goods and services that you provide.
Of course, a high-quality site will have this section not only as a tool for promotion, but also as a beautiful page that tells about your company.

On the site, absolutely everything is worth writing to increase sales. And sales on the site are antlers and reliability in the eyes of the client (then a phone number for a call, and so on, because one real deal is more important than 20 new leads).
If there is history and there is something to write about, then it solves this problem. If they write that "we are leaders of leaders from leaders with specialists with certificates ...", then such a text only interferes.
Regarding SEO, it hasn’t been working in its classic form for a couple of years now, that is, it’s not important whether there is a key on the page and the page itself, but what matters is how much time and what key the user spent on the site, so try to make SEO the history of the company – if You are not Apple, MicroSoft, Coca Cola, Adidas and something like that - then who needs your story? spoil the PF)

1. They don’t know what to write and just play around with each other.
2. With a competent approach, this attracts visitors.
An example of a competent approach to the "history of the company"
