Why do we need clientId & clientSecret?

Hello. Recently I read an article about creating an application for searching users using the GitHub API. In this article, the author Регистрировал новую OAuth applicationand after that he had access clientId & clientSecret- https://prnt.sc/igd84h.
That's all. But I still don't understand why it was necessary at all. What are these keys for?

For subsequent requests to the API. They or their derivatives will need to be substituted in the request so that the system recognizes you
