Why do sata power connectors warp?
I turned on the hard drive, gradually began to lose momentum, as when turning off or bads, and start up again, I thought everything was dead.
I switched to another power supply and the data cable ... earned. A week later, the same story again. Driven by Victoria - clean. Smart is ok. I looked at the connectors, and they were all swollen in the central part, as if they were stuck with a thick screwdriver. I squeezed one with pliers for testing (although it cracked in a couple of places, but it became already)) I connected it, the glitch disappeared.
Photo from another PSU, not so strong, but you can still see that the central part is wider.
The question is... what bloated them, how often does this happen and how to avoid it?

Yes, I had the same trouble. I got out of it by sticking hard metal linings on the outside of the connector (not canning tin, not aluminum - something harder). The thickness of these pads should not be too large so that they do not interfere with sticking into the disc. During the drying period of the glue, it is necessary to clamp the connector in a vise with flat parallel jaws in order to compensate for the bulging of the sides of the connector and the pads to fit over their entire surface.
It would be even better if these were not pads, but an external bandage on the connector, but this is more difficult to make and paste.
And as for the reason - offhand this is the poor quality of the plastic. With branded cables, this, I suppose, does not happen.
The reason is banal - the low quality of these same connectors, and you can’t save on the PSU. So I recommend at least replacing the connectors with high-quality ones, but it's better to replace the entire PSU.
