Why do programs crash when accessing the list of fonts?
Once, I sat down to write some text, I didn’t like the font, I decided to change it, I’m scrolling through the list of fonts, and once the program crashes, I restart, go into fonts, and it’s empty, the list of fonts is empty. Moreover, when I closed the program, the system fonts also disappeared, only icons remained.

Preview of a font causes the font subsystem to crash. Windows does not restart it automatically, so when you re-access there is nothing at all.
The root of the problem, most likely, is in some left crooked font (possibly homemade or self-converted) that you have installed. Delete it. Another version of the same reason is if you have a million fonts installed or some left programs to manage them.
