Why do mobile applications download, but are not registered in the service?
Good afternoon!
Nobody analyzed such a case? There is a mobile application that has been downloaded from the Apple AppStore over 10,000 times. At the same time, 45% fewer people reached the "Register" button. The login window is the first window that the user sees. The user is required to enter a password, email and that's all - we do not require personal data at this stage.
The application belongs to the financial sector, and there are no random jumps - people clearly come either on advice or through a site with a description of the application.
What could be the reasons for this situation?

The registration form on the main page is intimidating.
The user has not yet seen which application provides functionality, but forced registration is already needed.
If the user likes your application, he will find the registration form himself (place an unobtrusive button somewhere on top).
People will never once again register on portals related to money or law. No one takes great pleasure in encountering persons in police uniforms or those associated with banks, tax and similar areas.
Because of their own lack of honesty and / or because of distrust of people working in banks or the police (again, due to deceptions and set-ups on the part of the latter), people are afraid and do not want to get involved with all this.
You can try to solve this by giving users a guarantee that by registering they will not get worse and by making some special free conditions for registered users.
People love freebies.
It is very similar to a case when I follow a link to some news resource, and I am immediately offered to follow them in social networks in a pop-up.
If I have not yet seen the application, what is the benefit to me, as a user, to enter e-mail, and in general to do something extra? I already spent the effort and installed the application - let me at least look at what it is)
You have not given anything to the user yet, you are already demanding a lot from him in return.
And, in my opinion, this is still a very good conversion, if 45% still signed up. You would look at the statistics, how many of them then (after registration) continued to use the application. But this is if you have Google Analytics installed in the application, or similar tools.
