Relinking, is it relevant?

Previously, it was possible to change the weight of the same page from relinking, how is it now?
Does it work and does it make sense?
In 2014, there was almost no benefit from it, maybe something changed while I was away?)

Ranking by counters in the search results and interest in the site is directly measured by the number of pages viewed by one visitor within one visit/session and the total time spent by the visitor on the site.
Be sure to link and the pages should be for people (design and high-quality unique content).
