Why do games not work and slow down under Windows 7?

Hello!
There was a following question.
There is a computer that seems to be suitable for Windows 7. Previously, XP was not on it, but something broke there and they asked me to install Windows 7. I came and installed Windows 7 using a special USB flash drive. prepared. It seems like everything was fine at first. But, as soon as Steam was installed and the games started to run, then it all started. Older games lag a lot. And such games as CS:S do not start at all, in the support of the steam they said, check the games, the correct installation of the steam, etc. This information was completely useless.
Then there was another problem is the drive. It just didn't show up anywhere. Not in the device manager, nor anywhere else.
Actually a question. Why games do not work and slow down, and also Why disks are not displayed.
I also wanted to ask, I tried to install Windows 7 x64 and x86 - I wanted to ask what are the differences between them and whether there is Windows 7 Home Basic.
RAM 2 GB
Thank you in advance!

@artem_gurnovich ,
you practically answered yourself:

Device Manager says Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

This means that the video card drivers are not installed, and in such cases even the "Klondike" lags;)
Install the video drivers, and - rejoice.
