2domains.ru (reg.ru resellers) for 100 rubles.
Why is this situation happening, and does it make sense to overpay?

registrars have a simple logic: it is better to have 2 clients for 5 bucks than 5 clients for 2 bucks. they find it easier to deal with a wholesale reseller than with a bunch of individual customers. therefore, resellers are given good discounts depending on volumes.
there is only one catch: resellers sometimes tend to disappear. while the domains return, but the nerves will be spent. especially if it disappears when you need to renew / transfer the domain.
