I want to make a couple of non-commercial sites, but com, org, etc. are too expensive, and national zones like .ru are bad because the sites are planned to be international.
Please suggest some cheap options and places to buy them.

Non-commercial projects have one problem. More precisely, their owners/administrators have it. They think that everyone should help them. This is not true. If you are planning a serious international project, believing in its necessity, deny yourself something, but buy a normal domain. Although, what do you need to refuse to buy a domain for a few dollars a year? Well, don’t eat pizza once, save money on breakfast, in the end.
All cheap or free domains have a low reputation and what you save today will only bring you losses tomorrow - if not financially, then emotionally.
