Why do animations slow down in any browser on Mac?

Relatively long ago, I faced the problem that any more or less weighty web animation makes my mbp 13 "retina (mid 2014) completely inoperative. This problem is observed in any browser. Coolers turn on, the temperature rises to cosmic 90 degrees, terrible brakes. When JS is unchecked in Preferences the problem disappears.
