Why did you stop creating images of different sizes in wordpress?

In functions.php I added a couple of sizes for uploaded photos using add_image_size. Everything worked well. The site was given to the customer, forgot about it. After some time, the customer writes, the photo of the desired size has ceased to be created. Only the original size, even the standard large, medium, thumbnail is not created. What could be the problem?
