Why did the site start jumping in the search results and the webmaster messed up?

I posted the site in Google and Yandex, began to fill and develop, and everything went more or less smoothly. But since the new year, some jumps have begun. Either the pages will fly out of the search and return back, then the number of impressions jumps one day from 0 to others under 1000, and so on for a month.

Maybe this is due to the search changes in Yandex and Google?

As the user Puma Thailand correctly recommended to you, first analyze the data of the metric counters.
Most often, there are several reasons:

  • updating old and "rolling out" new search engine algorithms;
  • the work of cheaters (the so-called "working up" bots, which increases traffic to your site through direct visits, visits from social networks and search engines).

What can be done in this case:
  1. Track news on the emergence of new algorithms from Yandex / Google and "customize" the site to these requirements;
  2. If, by analyzing the metric counter data, you find "left" traffic to the site, then you can either do something about it, or simply continue working on the project.

About "do something":
  • Google does not have technical support, Yandex will answer on duty "this will not affect your site - develop and you will be fine .."
  • Closing traffic from bots by IP or otherwise is a long process and not always effective/safe. you can close the site from "live" people.
