Why did Reboot and select proper boot device repeat the next day after the fix?
We addressed a problem: a Windows 7 PC that worked flawlessly for years suddenly issues "Reboot and select proper boot device".
I looked, everything is fine in the BIOS: it keeps the date, the order of the devices is also correct; When turned on, the hard disk indicator was on. Just in case, I connected the disk to another connector, but I didn’t change the cable itself, I didn’t have it with me.
I booted from a USB flash drive: I tried standard diagnostic tools and recovery of the boot partition - they didn’t help, the MBR recovery utility helped, most likely this is the usual set of bootrec commands. After that, the computer worked as it should, turned it off and on several times, but the next day I was informed of a relapse.
I think the problem is the dying hard drive. How to find out Victoria HDD? What other reasons are possible?
