Why did I stop loading iptables-restore settings from a file?

Doesn't give any errors. But it doesn't load.
iptables-restore < /etc/iptables/rules.v4
iptables -L shows the old settings.
Everything worked before.
Debian.

Where to look, why can this happen?

Made a save to a file. Edited again. Then iptables-restore. And everything caught on. Strange, apparently there were some errors, but they were not displayed.

The angle bracket is superfluous, just iptables-restore /etc/iptables/rules.v4. And, in general, saving the rules does iptables-save, not restore.
