Why can the backlight fail on the Dell U3417W?
Such a question on the hardware of the monitor - the backlight on the lower half is darker than the upper half. On a white background, it is noticeable, it interferes with the work with graphics. No, it's not about viewing angles.
Is this a fixable problem without buying a new monitor? If it is possible to replace the backlight diodes, then what does it threaten? Can they be inferior in quality to those that are put at the factory? Or will a simple calibration after all the manipulations solve the problem?

Dell monitors have a 36 month warranty. Has it really ended, and you have to "collective farm" the backlight from the left LEDs?
If for work, and color rendering is essential, you are unlikely to pick up normal replacement LEDs. But judging by the description, one of the 2 lower lines of LEDs does not work entirely. Or 1 LED burned out, or power problems. I think it can be solved with the direct hands of the master.
If the unevenness of the backlight is visible to the eye, then the line of LEDs has died there.
Backlight replacement operation requires skill and understanding, it is very easy to kill the monitor the first time.
Judging by the question, it is better to contact the service.
