Why can't mount a CIFS network share in Ubuntu?

Unable to mount CIFS network share.
Ubuntu Desktop 16.04
cifs-utils and samba packages installed
On a virtual machine with Ubuntu Server 16.04 everything works with these settings.
fstab:

//[ip]/[share] /mnt/sb cifs username=[username],password=[passwd],iocharset=utf8,dir_
mode=0777,file_mode=0777, 0 0

smbfs is deprecated, use mount.cifs from the cifs-utils package.
