Why can't I import a file in Figma?

Hello everybody!

Faced such a problem, I can not import the file in Figma.
File name: Timbler_cut.fig.
When I try to import a file Figma gives an error: Unsupported file format.


I have one guess. This file (Timbler_cut.fig) originally had the extension .psd, but since I wanted to open it in Figma, I changed it to - .fig

What should I do?)

you can't just change the file extension and open it in another program
