Why can't connect to Dedicated server via VPN?

I have a VMware Xp NAT virtual machine. On it I connect to the public VPN PPTP. I'm trying to connect to the dedik - it does not work. If you do not connect to the VPN, then I can connect to the Dedik. What is the problem?
