Why can fps drop on a computer with a good config?
Hello.
I began to notice that in games (gta v, bf4, dota2, cs go) I didn’t test others, the FPS sags from 100 to 15 for a couple of seconds even at low settings.
My config:
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4 GHz
RAM: 8 GB AMD , 2 sticks of 4 gb
each Video: AMD R7 260x 2GB
PSU: 450W
HDD: 7200rpm
There are a lot of videos on YouTube recorded on the same config, on ultra settings of some games , below 30fps does not fall.
Tell me what could be the reason.
So far I have 2 versions:
1. A buggy hard drive
2. Not enough power from the power supply, although I figured I should have enough for everything.
Tested on Windows 7 and 8.1, since I initially sinned on windows.
UPD:
I identified the cause of the freezes. It turns out that my motherboard does not pull the power of my "bulldozer" the VRM module overheats under high load. But I did not change my mind about changing my hard to ssd :). So far, I have 2 solutions to this problem:
The first is to reduce the voltage and clock frequency of the processor (lowered by 2 positions, frequency and voltage). This is where I could use some advice. Is it possible to lower the voltage without reducing the frequency and in general how they are connected.
The second is to put a self-made radiator. Since capacitors are poked at the very place where the VRM chips are installed, I don’t know how to mount it at all. Here I would also like to get advice on how best to figure out a self-made radiator, I'm thinking of laying a plate and leading pipes from it to the radiator. Will just a copper plate with chopped "cilia" help?

Winchester. 90% that this is a hard drive. The volume of the fifth GTA is 60 GB, all this needs a high bandwidth to be pumped.
I have i3-4360, 16Gb, 7970 3Gb, SSD 256Gb and GTA5 at 1080p, everything sags at max to 25-30fps, on average 40-50. And yours is much worse.
But it's a screw. Buy an ssd, it's much more fun with it.
You also forgot about the screen size. It may well be that for some 4K display you will not have enough 2 gigabytes of video memory.
1) Look at the surface of the screw
2) the antivirus decides to look at what you are playing
3) the swap file, although there should be enough memory, but if something is dumped on the screw, then it takes time to get it back
Most likely it's a lack of video memory, because of this, and freezes. 2 GB is not enough now even for full hd
Or maybe it's heating up? Look at the temperature at this moment.
