Why buy an additional subnet from Hetzner?
Good afternoon.
There is a dedicated server at hetzner.com , about 6 VPS are planned on it. The number of external ip is limited to 4 units (1 together with dedicated and 3 additional).
Why buy a subnet for a VPS , is it not possible to set up a VPS with internal ips like in a router ( it has 1 external ip and many internal ones ) ?

It is possible, but again there are services that can only hang on one port and such a scheme will not work for them, or let's say you need to install nginx for http and you just can’t forward it.
You can, but then your VPS will not have external white IP addresses. In this case, it will be necessary to configure the forwarding of the necessary ports to the outside.

The ip-address is no longer needed for a piece of iron.
I switched the hardware to ipv6-only, gave the virtual machine the freed address (I just needed 4 addresses).
And yes, if the virtual machine should not be accessible from the outside at a dedicated address, then you can not give it a dedicated address, but have fun with port forwarding and nginx. But all this will work only if all virtual machines are purely yours =) Nobody will buy virtual machines without dedicated addresses.
