Why are there Unavailable brush options in Adobe illustrator?

Why are the following fields disabled in Adobe illustrator when creating a new "art brush"?

Because either you are using a mouse and not a graphics tablet, or something is wrong with your tablet (driver settings, settings in Illustrator). The mouse, obviously, is insensitive to pressure and tilt.
