Why are the touchpad and keyboard cut off in LiveXP?

I'm running a LiveCD with XP on my laptop to copy the BIOS firmware. The system starts up, the touchpad and keyboard work, but when you open windows or try to copy files, or other operations (I didn’t quite understand the pattern), they turn off. At first I thought the laptop was hanging, but then I saw that the clock in the tray continued to go ... maybe someone met?

I made a flash drive with Ubuntu and uploaded the files.

get a newer LiveCD with Windows 7 and integrated drivers
