Why are speakers selected when headphones are plugged in, and headphones are selected when disconnected?

When I plug headphones into the jack, the Speakers port is selected.
When I turn them off, the Headphones port is selected.
That is, it works the other way around.

The tablet itself is rather clumsy, there was a problem with the speakers that were quiet high frequencies.
Fixed by unscrewing the balance of the left speaker to 0 (there is only one speaker on the tablet)
There were also problems with the display.
