Why are photos on Bitrix cropped at 256x256? Where to change this setting? In the information block setting, photo reduction is not set at all

Where does pruning take place?
First you need to check
1) IB settings
2) In the template where cropped photos are displayed

Often, image resizing is done in the result_modifier.php file in the bitrix.news.list template from the bitrix.news complex component, look for CFile::ResizeImageGet
