Why are other people's domains tied to mine?

I have a site. Some time ago I found strange domains in referer headers in access logs. It turned out that the site zlodei.domen linked its A records to my domain. Those. if i go to his site the browser url will be his domain but my content.
I protected myself from this by adding a rule to htaccess if the host is not my domain then redirect to mine.
Why do they do it? The content is all the same mine and the links in it to my domain, pictures, etc. Does this somehow affect search engines? Maybe he just wants to do the history of the domain so that he does not stand idle or what?

you will soon have
specific protection, but now it’s more simple than a couple of years ago

move the site from the /var/www
folder to the /var/www/site.ru folder,
create a separate config for it, in which the domain will be explicitly specified (as it should be)
and put the hello file in the /var/www
folder, you got to the server (as and it should be)
In your case, you have a default config in which the domain is Default_ (depending on the server)
in short, make a normal special case.

the worst thing for you is that the villain's site will get into the search results, search engines can lower your site in ranking, consider it a copy of his site.
why is it necessary? the goals are different, there are scripts that replace text and pictures, I won’t be surprised if user data can also be stolen in this way
