Why am I getting such a weak pickup signal?

The belcat sh-80 pickup, the Behringer U-Phoria UM2 audio interface , looks like this
fdf5cd4349c517122e71268eb18f3c94.jpeg
Gain is turned to the maximum, but it sounds very very sluggish and quiet + audible background buzz

Example recording with Garage Band corrected volume and noise reduction in pauses. The system interface volume is not adjustable. The toggle switch for phantom 48 volts on the interface does not affect the sound at all.
Exactly what am I doing wrong?

A passive pickup gives the signal level like a microphone. You stick into the card, probably, not into the microphone, but into the line input.
You need a preamp or microphone input on the card or remote control, or stick into the microphone input in the beech.
upd. in the description of the card they write that it has a microphone preamplifier, but it is not clear how it turns on: it somehow determines what is plugged in, or it is configured through the driver, or it is waiting for an XLR microphone connector ..
ps good parquet!
