Why, after upgrading from EL Capitan to Sierra, did the Apple Magic Mouse start lagging as cheap with 300 dpi?

Had to roll back to El Capitan due to mouse lag after the update. The Apple Magic Mouse 2 worked great. Technical characteristics are nowhere to be found, but subjectively, 2800-3000 dpi were definitely there and the mouse floated quite smoothly on the table. But after upgrading to Sierra, this got out. The mouse moves in jerks, not smoothly. Feels like 300 dpi.
iMac Retina 5k Late 2015, native system upon purchase - EL Capitan.
