Who owns the site?

Good afternoon. At one time I made a student website (simply because I wanted to see an alternative vision of news) and launched it at my own expense, after about half a year the university offered a penny for the site (in the contract the wording is moderation and content filling), now the site has been introduced into the structure of the university media center and several more editors appeared on it (the wording in the contracts is the same). I pay for the domain and hosting from my own, as well as I develop exclusively myself. Question - who legally owns the rights to the site?

If there was no agreement on the transfer of exclusive rights, then the developer of the site, that is, you.

If they find anti-Putin news on the site, then you will have to answer, unfortunately

The site entirely and completely (and according to the documents) is yours. A dispute may arise over content if it was developed under a contract. In this case, it is enough to remove the controversial content from the site.
I just don’t understand one thing - how a university concludes an agreement to maintain a site that does not belong to them! ) It's like they pay you for vacuuming at home ))

Question - who legally owns the rights to the site?

The question was posed incorrectly.
The rights to the domain name belong to you because you pay for its rent.
The rights to hosting belong to you, because you pay for its rent.
If there was no contract for the development of the site - the main part of the site itself (its appearance, menu, structure, etc) - belongs to you. There may be issues with the content - the content can be classified as a "service work", since you filled it out for money and were hired for this purpose.
But content is the tenth thing. The main thing here is the domain name :)

@Onnem

As already written above, everything is yours, only the authorship of the content can be challenged by third parties.
