You can ban requests based on the list of IPs and user agents.
You can bind your ssl certificate.
If you are too lazy to reap pictures and optimize js, then the site can become much easier.
Subjectively, after all the optimizations, it opens faster, but for sites in Russia, an increase in ping may "compensate" for this.
