Who came up with this whim with "mobile first"?
It's not often (and thank God), but there is such a requirement.
And I just don't get the logic. For what??? For the sake of some microfine optimization for css parsing?
While the desktop version usually presents a much larger amount of content, as a result, it is more time consuming to make. And if at the same time we formed the DOM structure according to the precepts of "mobile first", then often it will be a hemorrhoid to enter styles for the desktop into this structure. We have to redo the structure for the desktop and edit the styles for the mobile.
Or, in the old fashioned way, initially make the layout for the desktop, then drive in the media requests for the mobile, and then swap them manually. It’s easier and faster for me to do this than for the browser to spend 0.0001 seconds filtering unnecessary rules.

You want what's easier for you, and the customer wants what's best for the user.
(Because the Google ranking and the percentage of return of visitors, and hence the profit, depend on the comfort of users).
Do the right thing, or don't take on such a "difficult" job.
