Which way to look when creating a business process formation system?

There are N applications in the enterprise, each of which has its own business process formation system. There was an idea to create one system for managing all business processes, which would be at the head of all diversity and allow you to manage / configure the business processes of N applications from its visual interface.
Has anyone encountered similar tasks, if so, what technologies, materials would you recommend?
Now I look towards WWF.

Systems of this class are called BPMS - Business Process Management System. As a rule, they are used precisely in order to manage other applications in accordance with process diagrams drawn up in BPMN notation. At one time I was interested in them, but did not reach practical experience. Maybe I can suggest a few directions and keywords.
There are many BPM systems out there. I immediately recall BizAgi (commercial, but there is a simplified free version) and Activiti BPM (open source). There is a site - bpms.ru - articles and materials on the topic are published there.
www.sql.ru/forum/erp-crm - the most interesting Russian forum on BPM systems that I have found.
BPM is not the only direction in this area. Recently, in some circles, ACM, Adaptive Case Management, is in vogue, the goal of which is to provide greater flexibility and adaptability of business processes. In some ways, an alternative, in some ways complementary approach is the business rule management system BRMS (Business Rule Management System). They suggest that we are not drawing big, intricate BPMN diagrams, but are dealing with a repository of simple rules like "if A and B, but not C, then do D, E, and F."
The topic, in general, is broad, and it depends on your specific situation which technology suits you best.
