Which video card to choose for an old motherboard (Intel G43 chipset)?

I want to buy a video card with UHD support for a new monitor. I was going to take an NVIDIA GTX970, but I doubt whether it would be advisable, given the rest of the components:

  • Motherboard Foxconn G43MX (Intel G43 chipset) with PCI-E 2.0 x16
  • 4GB DDR2
  • Intel Core 2 Duo E8500

I do not plan to upgrade other components yet.
Questions:
1. How much will the performance of the NVIDIA GTX970 decrease in such a "setup"?
2. Should I think about buying younger models? If so, which ones?

In fact, your problem is not in the motherboard, but in the CPU. Accordingly, it makes no sense to take an expensive video card, anyway, most of it will be idle waiting for the processor.
So take a video card from the average price range. Let's say up to $300
Here is a good site for choosing video cards: www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
Set the bar to $300 and choose the one that is faster.

The performance of a PCI-E 3.0 x16 video card on a PCI-E 2.0 x16 motherboard drops very significantly. At first, a familiar gamer did not understand why games were slowing down on a normal video card, then he got upset why he bought a video card for $ 600, and a motherboard with PCI-E 2.0. And he has no money for a further upgrade yet.
