Hi all. I am fond of web design, I make websites and graphics, so this question is important for me, not as much as for printers, but still.
I didn’t find anything sensible on the Internet, I could only understand that I need to buy a calibrator for at least 5000 rubles. So, I’ll say right away that I’m a complete zero in monitor settings and became interested in this only the other day, because of a new monitor. Therefore, the more detailed your answer is, the better for me.
The other day I bought myself a Dell uz2315h

  • brief specifications: IPS, 23", 300cd/m2, 1000:1, 8ms, 178°/178°
  • connected via: DisplayPort

Before that, for several years, I sat on the ViewSonic VX715
  • brief specifications: TN, 17", 300cd/m2, 450:1, 8ms, 140°/130°
  • connected via: VGA analog input

All this is associated with MSI GTX 770, i5 4670 and win7 64 sp1
The essence of my problem:
The new monitor cannot be adjusted in any way, so that its contrast and RGB would be shown, at least approximately the same as on the old monitor.
I know! Now everyone who read the above has a question - "Why suffer such garbage? After all, the old monitor sucks." Now I will try to explain.
Here are some of the technical stuff I have:
  1. Iphone 4s - where white is really white.
  2. Ipad 4 - where white is rather white with a slight hint of warmth.
  3. Old monitor ViewSonic VX715 - where is white with a red tint
  4. The new Dell uz2315h monitor - where white is more of a light light grey.

The site I'm currently developing has a dark, egg yolk color , I don't know how to describe the color so yellow with a slight orange tint.
And on the new monitor, this color becomes stupidly - Light yellow , which greatly distorts my initial idea of the color palette of the site as a whole and greatly spoils some design elements.
Those. The situation with colors is this:
White - perfectly shows only iphone and almost perfect on ipad, but on monitors, some kind of ass.
My chosen rich yellow for the site (#FFD948) is almost the same on the old monitor, on the iphone 4 and on the ipad 4, but on the new one it's just light yellow.
Now pictures:
1. Checking white color - brightness and contrast on all devices 100%

------------------------------
As you can see, the difference is strong.
2. The site logo itself:
I know it looks like it looks the same on the iphone and the new monitor, but this is a trick of the camera. Everything is as I wrote above.

3. Beautiful picture for comparison.

Buy a cheap monitor calibrator and he will set it up for you.

@Spetros

It is rather strange to compare an old TN monitor with run down backlights with a new IPS LED monitor. Before comparing - the brightness and color temperature must be equalized.
Here is the answer - both are lying.
