first newer - Late 2014

The difference in performance is not as important as the moment of being able to upgrade to the current version of macOS. For the second, the maximum version is high sierra, and for late 2014, you can install the latest Catalina. Replace the first HDD with an SSD, add memory - it will be a great machine.
