Is MacMini 2018 good for work and home?

I asked my friends about MiniITX cases / assemblies, everything that Google advised and advised either I don’t like, or it’s expensive (only a 400 bucks case), or it requires serious compromises in terms of components, or it doesn’t look very good (hello cubic cases). And then today a good friend of mine told me "Since for work, look towards MacMini 2018, their prices have fallen, you can find them at a good price." Actually with this question I also came to you.

I liked MacOS, although there were some points that still needed to be dealt with. It remains only to consult about performance.
The home computer is used for: junior-middle development, office work, YouTube conferences and in the future I want to stream media content to a TV/console (DLNA). Can such a machine take out such tasks? Targeted MacMini 2018 i5/256. If you can stream, can you stream from an external drive?
