Which mac to choose m1 or i5?

Question for Mac experts. I have a dilemma with the release of a new processor from Apple. I decided to switch to a macbook and I can’t decide how. There are macbook pro 13 2020 with i5-1038NG7 2.0 Hz 16 SDDR4, 512 gb and mabook air m1, 8gb RAM, 256 ROM. The price is about the same, used mabook pro. It is clear that m1 is more powerful, but 8GB of RAM is embarrassing. Which of these two would you recommend?

I am engaged in web programming. PS, Chrome, Visual Studio Code, Evernote and a few lightweight apps are open at the same time.
