Which Linux distro is better to use for a virtual machine in order to use less disk space?
Now I'm using ubuntu 18.04 with xfce, the vdi disk is already 41gb. Of course, I know about the existence of bare distros like centos, archlinux, but I want something that installs like ubunt, without picking the console. The goal is to achieve a completely ready-to-use virtual machine with a size of 15-20 gigs

41 gig is a hell of a lot.
clean the hubunta from unnecessary progs, there is a lot of good stuff according to Recommends Suggests.
then it depends on how much you want to cut the system, install ncdu or something like that and see what takes up space in the system.
and then do not forget to execute in the system
i.e. fill the free space with zeros. and then, turning off the virtulaca, execute in the host
to remove the spaces clogged with zeros from the dynamic image file.
otherwise all your picking with freedom will be down the drain
look at what's inside, reset to zero, squeeze and it will be small. I have never grown 41 gig - 10 ... 16 range. and if you start from vanilla, then 2 ... 4g (xfce, java, eclispe , katalon:
