Which Linux distribution is right for a beginner?
I myself sit on windows, but I heard a lot about Linux
. I just have weak hardware and lags begin over time, even cleaning the computer has ceased to save.
And so I thought about switching to Linux.
Now I just want a stable oc that won't sag.
I came across an old post where everyone advised elementary.
I googled and liked the interface.
I began to look for whether it is difficult to set it up, there were few posts, a little difficult, but in theory everything is clear.
And so I decided to ask what will be relevant for a beginner now?

Elementary is based on Ubuntu, suitable for a beginner.
You can also take Debian as a basis and roll XFCE there. Geeky setting + simplicity and a minimum of resources eats.
Get a penguin or die...
Starting from tasks. What do you want to do? If it's just a browser-mail-YouTube-Skype-toys - well, I'll disappoint you. No, linux will rise. No, everything is there (almost). But even the most arch-friendly distribution presupposes the presence of a brain. And a clear understanding - what I want. Unlike Windows, which put a bib on the user a long time ago and performs a dance around him (secretly poking personal data, showing ads, imposing unnecessary things - well, these are just consequences) - even the most arch-friendly distribution will not prevent you from shooting yourself in the foot :)
Linukh - it's just notWindows. Naturally, when switching, try to do "as in Windows." But in some cases it is impossible to do this, in many - the imitation is purely external and only in some it turns out the same - and then mainly on cross-platformers - FF, TB, LibreOffice. A lot of toys are launched with a dance, in comparison with which the shaman's ritual is a drill song. You will have to get used to a lot - there are other concepts in linux .
And so, usually beginners are advised to bubuntu, mint. And here the basic principle of UNIX immediately appears - your penguin - you mess around :D
It's better not to touch Elementary yet, it's too raw. It is worth looking towards ubuntu like. the same mint for example
