Which license to choose for an OpenSource library?

Confused with all those GNU/GPL, MIT, MPL and other licenses,
Advise the library's source code license, which states that "alteration is allowed, commercial use as part of any product, but obliges to indicate the use of this library in About and prohibits sale of this library in a modified and unchanged form

What sense do you put in these ten non-Russian letters if you really want to release a non-free / proprietary / proprietary program?
As for the license, (thank God) there is no such pool of ready-to-use licenses for non-free software as there is for free software. Each petty proprietor, as usual, writes a license for himself, peeping at his neighbor.
