I'm studying to be a programmer, I need a laptop for:
1. coding
2. watching movies
3. playing "easy games" (and even then I hardly play them, well, you never know if I want to))

If you do not play games, then the built-in video card will suffice. Although I played a lot of games on the i7-6500U + Intel HD 620, not in Full HD and not stable 60 fps, but quite playable and not out of the blue (more than 40 fps and more than 720p).
The disadvantages of a video card in a laptop are increased heat dissipation, a large electrical load (I don’t think this is good for the battery even if the laptop is connected to the network), more weight (if mobility is important), and usually the price is higher.
And for development, the processor, RAM and ssd are more important. Well, I would also focus on the screen (IPS with good color gamut and 1080p)
