Which is better to buy or make a computer desk?

Hello. It's time to change the computer desk, although you can't call it that. I didn't like anything in the store. I decided to make a layout and order. Here's what came out of it:
1st option (tabletop 140x70)
photo 1
photo 2
2nd option (tabletop 120x70)
photo 1
photo 2
There will be 2 monitors on the table. Which one do you like best and is comfortable in appearance?
Advise in addition models of tables or what do you use?

There is no such thing as a computer desk. What is called that in stores is inconvenient crap, and of the same type (as in the figure above). All these uncomfortable and easily broken keyboard stands (you can’t even lean on them - what the hell are they then), obligatory lockers, stupid light color, all this is sad.
Therefore, I advise you to buy a regular rectangular writing desk, the dimensions for your needs (for example, I have 180x80, but now I think that it would be better to take 160 in width)

I like tables where, even while lying in a chair, the legs can be extended so that the legs do not rest on anything - practically the key point in choosing a table.

A familiar problem, I myself chose a table not so long ago. I rummaged through a mountain of catalogs, ugly keyboard shelves everywhere, unnecessary overloaded extensions for CRT monitors with a CD stand, niches for a system unit. As a result, I found only one (!) table, which more or less suited me in appearance.
The superstructure and the shelf under the keyboard are bought in addition separately. Only the tabletop, it seems, is not able to withstand a lot of weight, it bends under load, I won’t dare to sit on it. But two monitors 22-23 "keep calm.
There are interesting arguments about what a table should not be like.

If you are satisfied with the direct option, then look at IKEA. In any case, you can take it as a basis.
The closest thing to the second option is this set: Tabletop

Shelf for the system unit:

Recently, I also chose a table, went around all the shops in the city, I didn’t like anything. I liked only one thing, I ordered it, I use it, I'm satisfied. Colors there you can choose what your heart desires (although all this is in Ukraine). On this, 2 widescreen monitors will become difficult.

You can just look at catalog1 , catalog2 , maybe you like something or take some idea from there and make it what you want.
Of yours, I like the second one better. At work, similar, with 2 monitors just. Quite convenient. Only it would be wider, so that there would be 70 cm from the monitor to the eyes and some kind of stands, so that the monitors were at eye level and there was no need to stoop.

Of your options, I liked the first one more, I myself am sitting at about the same now, so I’m more familiar with it. The only thing is that your system compartment is closed on three sides, the ventilation is worse. I would be afraid to do this, you never know, suddenly the system unit boils in the heat in the summer.

Once again, I am promoting a post that, IMHO, should be included in the anal discussions about computer tables: nesid.livejournal.com/68358.html

I recommend the IKEA Galant series:
www.ikea.com/ru/ru/catalog/categories/departments/workspaces/18966/
You can choose separately a combination of framed worktops, legs and accessories.
Personally, I took myself:
- a table top 120 * 80
- an additional semi-circular table top so that there are no sharp corners that you can hit - I will recommend this idea to your options
- four A-shaped legs (cheaper and more difficult to stumble than T-shaped ones) - adjustable in height
- the so-called cable holder (where I shoved all the long wires and the surge protector) - I recommend this idea to your options
- hanging (hung on the frame) shelf for the system unit
Minus - the final price - it seemed to me that such a table would have come out cheaper on order (and it turned out something around 12k rubles, a couple of years ago). But under the order, you would have to look for someone who can do it with high quality, wait, etc., but then he arrived, bought it, brought it, twisted it in an hour (but as far as I know, there is no Ikea in Abakan).
If anyone is interested, I can take a picture.

The choice is small.
1) Look in the salons of your city and on their websites. Choose the one closest to what you would like.
If you don’t mind the money for a good table, then:
2) Take some software for furniture design, at least Pro100, sit for a couple of days, do what you want, then go to a small company that can make this miracle according to your sketches.

If the table is angular (as in 1 photo) - remove all the details from under the table. Just a wide tabletop with legs. Where the corner is a semicircular cutout, i.e. sit with your head in a corner. Monitors in this case will be almost parallel to the walls. Sistemnik on the floor, if the floor is not hard (carpet), then you need a stand, it can be on wheels. Convenient to place on the short side of the table. You can put a printer / scanner on the long side of the table, and just throw papers, there is not much free space :) I advise you such a thing under the table .
All of the above is for guidance only. I'm comfortable:)

Reading the comments made such a layout. Tabletop (160x80)
Photo
I think the best option.

Right now, the most convenient place for me to work with a laptop (though without an additional monitor) are two high window sills.
Height 980 mm, depth 500 mm, width 1700 mm.
I bought two medium-height bar stools for them (folding ones, I took them from IKEA, but now they don’t sell them anymore :( There is enough space for papers and equipment. A printer with a long cord is located near the window on a separate
desktop.
the house is in abundance, but high window sills turned out to be much more convenient;)

My advice. Choose one so that you can close the system unit in the closet. DVD ROMs are not fucking needed now.
Wireless keyboard and mouse rule. USB in the monitor. Only the withdrawal of the cord under the power of the monitor and conn. with a system manager.
Convenient to have a shelf where you can put the keyboard and front sight. But not this bullshit on wheels. Normal shelf.
Well, more coats. And places where you can blow stacks for paper.
And it should also be a little wider. Since the monitors have become very large now.
The rest is for convenience.
