Which is better for home network/SOHO (equipment)?
Option #1:
Old (supported) Cisco 827-4V ADSL (as an ADSL modem) and new Netgear WNDR 3700 (as a gigabit switch, router and wifi access point)
Option #2:
New Cisco 857W-GE-K9 (adsl modem, 100 Mbit switch, router and wifi AP)
All this is necessary for a home network of 6 computers. Under the condition of active use of the Internet and the torrent-rocking chair, nothing should slow down (naturally, if the channel is not completely clogged). All this is subject to 24/7 use and the highest possible reliability and bug-free.
PS 827 cisco found where to get it is not expensive, just, but it is only 10Mbps and without wifi.
Both options are about the same price (approx. 10 tr.). Despite the seemingly obvious choice of option number 2, NetGear has a gigabit network and powerful wifi, as well as not bad reviews.
Cisco is not strong in solutions, but 857 seems to be the cheapest one sold with adsl and wifi

and what's the use of Netgir's gigabit?
yes "10 megabits only..." what does that mean?
as I understand it, you have a provider using adsl technology ...
hence the adsl technology itself is limited in speed ...

Yes, according to the subject, I would choose the 2nd option.
Fewer devices less problems.
and tsisko pretty stable piece of iron.
You can look at the tighter Cisco but under the Linksys brand. There are decent things and in particular www.linksysbycisco.com/ANZ/en/products/WAG320N 4-port Gigabit Dual-Band Wireless-N ADSL2+ Modem Router
No. 2. I personally have 871-K9 (my ethernet + PPPoE provider), 20 megabits set by the tariff pumps "with a bang" (but at the same time the cpu load is 70%). I still have several devices from different manufacturers, but the cisco is from the “set it and forget it” category. As set up three years ago, I forgot about it. In general, if you need gigabit around the apartment at home, you can buy an inexpensive switch and connect it to a cisco.
But he has, of course, a fly in the ointment. L2TP and multicast do not work (you will not be able to watch IPTV). But for me, these “problems” are completely irrelevant, especially compared to the fact that my head stopped hurting about the quality of Wi-Fi
