Which HDD to choose for the server?
Good day.
Tell me which HDD is better to take for the server that will host the site working 24 hours 7 days a week. The choice was between WD Red 500GB (or 1TB), WD wd5003azex 500GB or Sagate st500dm002 500GB. Which is better to take?

1. Don't care what. Take two and raid.
As practice shows, it is better to take three or four screws at once, so that at the moment when one of the RAID breaks, you always have a replacement.
In the long term, all the screws will die, so take it right away with a margin.
UPD: This is, of course, about RAID1, if you don't know why you need other RAIDs - NEVER do them.
2. If you have a separate server for the site - you should think about what will be the load on the disk. Maybe it's worth taking not an HDD, but an SSD? If there is active work with the database or small files on the disk, the SSD may be a win.
3. Website operation 24/7/365 on one server is a myth.
You need to either lay downtime in the work of the site, or lay a VERY large budget.
4. And backups, yes. Immediately to another disk / server / data center / mainland. The choice depends on the budget and your paranoia.
it's better to make a raid of at least two + set up a daily backup :)
